down water route

Traffic resumed on the Intracoastal

HIGH ISLAND, Texas (AP) - Traffic has resumed on the Intracoastal Waterway near High Island following a collision between two tugboats as they towed barges.

The Coast Guard in Port Arthur said no injuries were reported in the accident, which shut down the water route for about half a day until late Tuesday afternoon.

"The vessels Caroline and Miss Stacie were towing barges near the Texas 124 bridge when they collided," said the Coast Guard.

The Caroline was refloated and towed to Lake Charles, La., for repairs. Its barges were transported to Houston by another vessel.The Miss Stacie was not damaged.

The Coast Guard said a minimal amount of oil was released and cleaned up.
